Statement from the Artist
For me, photography is stealing a moment in time. I find
myself searching for moments in this ever-changing, ever-mobile
world in which we live. It’s amazing that we can capture
something concrete. Even more incredible is the idea that
we could find in that moment something unique and genuine.
I don’t believe that every photo shows us reality,
but it does show us the reality of the moment, the intensity
of it. It makes time visible in all its beauty and imperfection.

Statement from the Artist
What best describes my artwork is detailed portraits with
a mix of impressionism. My major influence was a fellow
Australian artist, Robert Hagan. After moving to America
in 1992 the Billabong Studio was started, a modest studio
with a look of the Australian outback. I began with impressionist
scenes and then moved into portraits, finding a way to bring
out the true character of each subject whether it was a
family pet or a family member. Not to remain too stagnant,
I also enjoy painting the old western or romantic scene
to keep things fresh. I work from photographs which are
either taken by myself or I can use an existing photo if
there is enough detail.
